Darnell Gardner is interested in how life transcends hardship — and how it doesn’t. Born in Detroit, his work ruminates on the other, the outsider, and the illusory nature of belonging. He works through still photography, field recordings, and poetry.
Darnell holds a master's degree in Chinese Philology from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. He earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism and International Relations from Central Michigan University.
He lives and works between Atlanta, Detroit, Oakland, and Bogotá, Colombia.
